Richard Bona : " The Ten Shades of Blues " 2009

"I like each of my albums to have a theme, a project behind it. This time I chose the blues. I look at the blues from the universal angle: you can find it in Africa, in America and in India. People put a style to it, a style with guitar and vocals. But I see it first as a scale, one that's present in different traditions and expressions in music. Ten Shades Of Blues means ten nuances, ten different ways of playing the blues

Microphones can only take in what musicians put out, and this quartet delivers solid gold. ( http://www.allaboutjazz.com/php/article.php?id=38614 )

Getz/Gilberto is a jazz bossa nova album released in 1964 by the American saxophonist Stan Getz and Brazilian guitarist João Gilberto, and featuring composer and pianist Antonio Carlos Jobim. Its release created a bossa nova craze in the United States and internationally. It brought together Stan Getz, who had already performed the genre on his LP Jazz Samba, João Gilberto (one of the creators of the style), and Jobim, a celebrated Brazilian composer (and also one of the main creators of the genre), who wrote most of the songs in the album. It became one of the best-selling jazz albums of all time, and turned Astrud Gilberto, who sang on the tracks "The Girl from Ipanema" and "Corcovado", into an international sensation.

It won the 1965 Grammy Awards for Best Album of the Year, Best Jazz Instrumental Album - Individual or Group and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical. "The Girl from Ipanema" also won the award for Record of the Year in 1965. This was the first time a jazz album received Album of the Year. It was the last jazz album to win the award until Herbie Hancock's River: The Joni Letters 43 years later, in 2008.

The Brian melvin trion : Standards Zone ( 1986 - Released In 1990 ) featuring Jaco Pastorius and Jon Davis

This straightahead trio date led by drummer Brian Melvin is most notable for being electric bassist Jaco Pastorius's final recording, cut just a year before his premature death. With Melvin and pianist Jon Davis (whose style is most influenced by McCoy Tyner and Herbie Hancock), Pastorius was free to be very active in accompanying the piano solos and he gets to stretch out on nearly every tune.

Pat Metheny : One Quiet Night ( 2003 )

Pat Metheny
----------

Recorded between November 2001 & January 2003. Includes liner notes by Pat Metheny. ONE QUIET NIGHT won the 2004 Grammy Award for Best New Age Album. Over the years, progressive jazz guitarist Pat Metheny has covered a lot of ground, from Brazilian-inflected world jazz to gentle, ambient soundscapes to fiery, avant-garde experimentation. So it should come as no surprise that his eclectic muse has led him on ONE QUIET NIGHT to a new sonic neighborhood. The album is just Metheny alone with a baritone acoustic guitar--no band, no overdubs, no production, just a man and his musical gift with nothing to get in the way.
